5 of 5 Nations 270 high amp for Roadtrek RV March 19, 2017

We have a Roadtrek RV built on the 3500 Express van, with the Nations 270 high amp alternator and the Balmar external regulator - Roadtrek markets this as their "Underhood Generator". At van idle of 500 RPM I measured the alternator at 1830 RPM with a laser tach. From the chart at this RPM the alternator output is approx 160 amps or 2200 watts at 14 volts. We routinely cook a meal with the convection microwave which draws approx 1800 watts from the inverter - alternator has no problem providing the power. Awesome product!

exceptional performance low +high rpms .  will hold 14.7v with all equip. on. even with pcm controlled idle rpm's of 550 rpm.  appearance very nice. cannot verify max output when cold of 270 amps but it seems to drop only a little when hot and alt.  still maintains output very well.a bit of a hassle to find the correct belt size but did find the best size.         spencer
